53 Pakistani businesses from the tech industry took part in GITEX Global, the biggest tech show in the world. These businesses operate in the sectors of agri-tech, block chain, metaverse, artificial intelligence, and education technology, among others. GITEX offered Pakistani exhibitors the perfect setting for networking with influential industry figures, exploring new prospects, and learning about significant global advancements.
Such a massive participation from Pakistan was made successful due to the effort and support of Tech Destination Pakistan, Pakistan Software Houses Association, Ignite and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan
Opening ceremony of Pakistan pavilion
Syed Amin Ul Haque, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunication, gave the Pakistan Pavilion its official opening at “GITEX Global 2022” on Tuesday in Dubai. He exuded confidence that the Middle East’s largest technology event would help Pakistan, the second-most populous nation in South Asia, advance its commitment to cutting-edge innovation.
“It’s an immense feeling to be at Gitex and see lots of Pakistani companies exhibiting here. Seeing the ‘Tech destination Pakistan’ logo everywhere is a proud moment not only for me but for the Pakistani community at large living in the Gulf,” – Syed Amin Ul Haque, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunication.
He further said “Pakistan’s ICT export remittances, including telecommunication, computer and information services, recorded a growth of 47.6 percent in FY 2020-21 in comparison with FY 2019-20. In 2021, Pakistani startups raised a record investment which was 450 percent higher than investment raised in 2020.”
The global community showed great interest in Pakistan’s IT sector at the Connexion Lounge by Tech Destination during Day 4 of GITEX Global where they explored Pakistan’s IT infrastructure, business opportunities, and solutions. Ignite and Huawei Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the aim of developing and expanding a framework of cooperation between the two organizations to improve links through startup programs and talent development activities.
